meet winnie

Meet Winnie! Winnie is in foster with Best Friend Pet Adoption. When she first came into the rescue she was anxious, stressed, reactive to other dogs, and fearful of strangers. With the support of our trainers, Winnie is getting the skills and support she needs to be ready for adoption. Not only that, but her foster guardians are learning valuable training skills that will support their future fosters as well.

“Winnie came to us last year as a foster and had a lot of fearful anxiety from being a stray for so long.  Winnie’s anxiety caused a lot of behaviors that made her un-adoptable. She would bark incessantly at us, jump and hit us in the face when we called her name, ran around the house like crazy if we left her alone, and stalked our cat like he was her next meal.  Thanks to the support we got from Camille [through the Paws and People Initiative], Winnie is not the same dog who entered our house a year ago.  She sits calmly while we eat and work, usually barks only when she wants something, responds well to her name and many other commands, relaxes on the couch, can be left alone for hours with any separation anxiety, and has made friends with the cat. She is now more than ready for her fur-ever home.”
